Religious Education at Hollingworth Academy creates young people who are confident in their own beliefs and values and can therefore, respect the religious and cultural differences of others, and contribute to a cohesive and compassionate modern society.

Religious Education at Hollingworth aims to create a curriculum where all students acquire the core knowledge and understanding of the beliefs and practices of the religions and worldviews, which not only shape their history and culture but which guide their own development. It allows students to understand the world and people around them both globally and locally. Students are equipped to promote respect by challenging prejudice and discrimination faced by individuals in the 21st century through an understanding of religious and cultural differences.

Parental Rights on RE Withdrawal

RE at Hollingworth is open, broad and explores a range of religious and non-religious worldviews. In the UK, parents still have the right to withdraw their children from RE on the grounds that they wish to provide their own RE. This provision will be the parents’ responsibility. This right of withdrawal exists for all students in all types of school, including schools with and without a religious designation. Students aged 18 or over have the right to withdraw themselves from RE. Parents also have the right to withdraw their child from part of RE.

If you wish to withdraw your child from RE, please contact the academy.
