Pastoral Structure

Our pastoral structure in our academy is split into 4 Houses and each year group is split into tutor groups. These tutor groups are carefully configured to prioritise the needs of each pupil. Tutor groups in Year 7, 8 and 9 largely stay the same as pupils pass through Key Stage 3 but we review the groupings regularly and will make changes if necessary. In Years 10 and 11 tutor groups are subject led, for example, if a pupil is unlikely to meet their target in maths, they will be placed into a maths specific tutor group to receive extra intervention, these change each half term.

Your child's tutor is your first point of contact and starts and ends each day with a check in with your child. For that reason, they are the most appropriate person to flag any issues to regarding attendance, behaviour, homework or progress.

Each year group has a Head of Year who has oversight of all pupils and works closely with your child's tutor.  They can be contacted at school if you have any queries or if problems arise. These staff members are extremely busy, but will always aim to get back to you within 48 hours.

Year 7 - Ms Hartley
Year 8 - Ms Keen
Year 9 - Ms Watson
Year 10 - Ms Pearson
Year 11 - Ms Begum

Working closely with the Heads of Year are a team of Welfare Leaders who work specifically on student welfare, attendance, personal development and behaviour. These staff create and implement bespoke interventions to support your child whilst a Hollingworth.

More broadly we have our Inclusion Managers, Mrs E Robinson and Mrs Chappell, who work with all pupils in the academy alongside our year teams and Welfare Leaders. Our Inclusion Managers co-ordinate bespoke support packages to ensure that inclusivity remains an academy priority.

Mr Wild and Mr Livesey are our Pastoral Directors who oversee interventions and bespoke support packages that are designed and implemented by our HOYs, Welfare Leads and Inclusion Managers.

Our pastoral Senior Leaders are:
Mrs B Robinson - Senior Assistant Headteacher - Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare/Designated Safeguarding Lead
Mr Drews - Assistant Headteacher - Behaviour and Attitudes
Mr Harwood - Assistant Headteacher - Personal Development/Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (Designated Teacher for C4C)

Student Pastoral Responsibilities

We pride ourselves on our calm, safe and orderly environment and this is underpinned by the exemplary discipline of our pupils at Hollingworth Academy. We sweat the small stuff so that we can concentrate on the big stuff, there is support for your child to meet and exceed our expectations if they require it.

Pupils are rewarded for meeting expectations regularly. We run rewards assemblies each half term and have a 'celebration Friday' broadcast each week to celebrate attendance efforts, house achievement and RISE points. We also run annual rewards trips where in the first instance every pupil is invited but they have to maintain a certain criteria to retain their invitation. Our criteria is generous and allows for mistakes (detailed below):

Zero suspensions.
Zero off site disciplinary placements.
Exemplary attendance.
No more than two link room placements.
No instances of truancy.
All detentions attended, lunchtime, after school or otherwise.
Full uniform and equipment.
All students must uphold our world class standards both inside and outside of the academy.

Equally where pupils do not meet our expectations and do not accept our support to follow the rules, sanctions will be applied. We run same day detentions, this is so that each pupil can take responsibility for their actions and return to the academy the following day with a fresh start. Parents/carers are notified by ARBOR and detentions are compulsory. Where a pupil requires a more serious sanction this will be communicated to the parent/carer by our Pastoral Team.
