Performing Arts enables us to build confidence, communicate and express ourselves ready for an ever changing world.
The Performing Arts Faculty exists to inspire, nurture, and educate Hollingworth pupils through the disciplines of Dance, Drama and Music. As a collective we aim to foster a culture of excellence, through curiosity and innovation with performance at the core in everything we do. As members of an enriching Performing Arts Faculty pupils will develop the transferable skills necessary to live as healthy, confident, and life-long learners, enabling all to thrive in an ever-changing landscape, regardless of social, cultural, or financial background.
Pupils develop key skills of listening, composing, performing and evaluating through studying a creative, diverse and engaging curriculum. Successfully equipping and preparing all pupils for future pathways along with supporting individual interests. Throughout the academic year pupils study topics designed to develop personal learning through presenting challenges that require and encourage all learners to analyse, dissect, practice, perform and evaluate.
The curriculum engages all pupils due to the relevance of music, in that everyone has a favourite song, artist or genre. Throughout KS4, pupils continue to develop key skills centring around: performing, composing and understanding.
In the performance element pupils focus on learning the intricacies of their chosen instrument and developing technical and stylistic features relating to genre and style. In composition, pupils are encouraged to write with a distinctive character, and the listening aspect complements the study through putting theory and understanding into practice.
